about us

St. John's Parish Church in Mid Street, Bathgate, is the Parish Church for the east side of Bathgate and the new village development at Wester Inch.

Sunday Morning Worship is held each week at 11am. The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper is celebrated on the 1st Sunday of March and November, on the 2nd Sunday of June and at Christmas and Easter.

The Sunday Funday Club is the name given to our Junior Church. The youngsters also meet at 11am, as does our Youth Group.

"We aim to worship God as a family, to nurture the Christian Faith and to reach out to the community in witness to God's love."

In the beginning...

The origins of St. John's Church date back to 1811 and followed the United Presbyterian and United Free Church traditions until the re-union of the Churches that took place in Scotland in 1929.

The present building was erected in 1895 and underwent significant restoration work in preparation for the centenary celebrations that were held in 1995.

A new hall "The Tryst" was built in 2000.

Today...

Our buildings are in constant use serving both Church and community.

With the new area of Wester Inch village very much within our parish, we are committed to establishing informal Family Worship in the new Simpson Primary School starting, hopefully, on Sunday 7th October, 2007 at 9.30am.

This is a new and exciting development in the history of St. John's congregation which, over the years, has parented Blackburn and Boghall Parish churches.

We hope that if you have a Church connection elsewhere, you will consider coming to join us in this new venture.

If you have lapsed from a previous Church involvement, this may offer an opportunity for you to make a fresh start and if you have never been involved in Church life before, you will accept this invitation to come along and share our Christian vision and experience.

We aim to offer all-age worship at Wester Inch and look forward to getting to know many of you in the near future either.

This vibrant congregation extends a warm welcome to everyone, not least to the ALPHA course.

Watch this space.
